			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yeah, you read it well. <u>An ezine publisher or an ezine ad co-op can destroy your solo ad advertising campaign if you don&#8217;t take care</u> who you are placing your order with.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t assume the publishers and the ezine ad co-ops are all professional. There are a lot of amateurs in absolutely any field.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t initially plan to write this section because I thought that this mistake is not made by publishers anymore, even if they are new in ezine publishing. I was wrong!<span id="more-296"></span> I&#8217;ve just received an email from a publisher that has the following subject line: <strong>Solo Ad</strong></p>
<p>You got the point? <u>Instead of advertiser&#8217;s subject line, the subject line of that email contains the type of ad the advertiser purchased (a solo ad)</u>.</p>
<p>Advertiser&#8217;s subject line was no longer a subject line but a line from the body of that email.</p>
<p>Remember how important is the subject line? If instead of your subject line it is published only &#8220;Solo Ad&#8221;, &#8220;Dynamic solo&#8221;, &#8220;Publisher&#8217;s Exclusive solo&#8221;, etc. . who do you think will open your solo ad?</p>
<p><u>What to do to avoid such unpleasant situation</u> when an amateur seller is forcing you to throw away your money?</p>
<p>There are 2 solutions.</p>
<p>Solution # 1 &#8211; Before placing your order, subscribe to the ezine and see how other advertisers&#8217; solo ads look like.</p>
<p>Solution # 2 &#8211; Before placing your order, contact the seller and ask her/him how exactly your solo ad will look like. Ask her/him to send you a template or provide her/him your solo ad and ask her/him to send you back an email that it is <u>exactly</u> like the solo ad that will be sent to the subscribers.</p>
<p>Of course you can combine both solutions by subscribing to the ezines and also contacting the publisher. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The first thing you have to know is that many publishers won&#8217;t let you choose the date when your solo ad is published. The main reason is that they have a schedule and cannot modify it each time when an advertiser wants it.</p>
<p>For example, you may want your solo ad to be published next Monday but the publisher may not agree because of the simple reason that she/he publishes her/his own newsletter on that day and doesn&#8217;t send more than one mailing per day. Or another reason may be that the Monday you&#8217;re talking about is already booked by another advertiser.</p>
<p>However, if you are able to choose the day, which day to choose?<span id="more-287"></span></p>
<p>Well, I checked for you the results of two reports issued by two companies specialized in email marketing. Both reports are based on the analysis of milions of email messages sent via companies&#8217; servers.</p>
<p>1) The report issued by AWeber Communications shows this result: <u>the best day was Thursday and the second best Wednesday</u>.</p>
<p>2) The report issued Mailer Mailer LLC contains a shocking information: <u>the best day was Sunday and the second best Monday</u>. According to their study a lot of people check their emails on Sunday nights in order to prepare for the upcoming week. This was quite shocking news because by now it was considered that it&#8217;s not good at all to send emails on weekends.</p>
<p>As you can see, the reports issued by the big boys of email marketing industry don&#8217;t match one another.</p>
<p>Conclusion &#8230; It seems that there is only one conclusion: <b>there is no &#8220;best day&#8221; to send an email</b>.</p>
<p>As a matter of fact, in the first mentioned report Justin Premick, Education Marketing Manager of AWeber, said that &#8220;our assumptions about what works are often quite wrong&#8221; and &#8220;you ultimately have to test for yourself to see what best suits your audience&#8221;. Again the magic wording &#8220;<b>test for yourself</b>&#8220;. You and I are different. So are the newsletters and their readers.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Almost anyone knows that the solo ads are the best form of ezine advertising. However, many marketers have only some vague ideas on how to properly use them. Some of them understand that something is wrong in what they did only after they failed. Others never understand the reality (it&#8217;s easier to blame all the other people but not themselves!)</p>
<p>Today&#8217;s article is a mini-guide for email advertisers looking to improve the results of their solo advertising campaigns. For an easier reading and understanding, the essential principles I will talk about today are shown in a Q &#038; A (Questions &#038; Answers) format.<span id="more-274"></span></p>
<p><u>Q: Paid vs. Free Solo Ads. Why should I pay for a solo advert if there are so many places (safelists, text ad exchanges) where I can get them for free?</u></p>
<p>A: Why do you think that so many online businesses fail? No offence, but where there is a crowd there are also a lot of losers. Choose your model carefully and don&#8217;t lose contact with the real world. When was the last time when a stranger gave you something valuable for free? &#8230; No one gives away something really valuable. No one. Most of the online freebies value exactly what you pay for them (nothing, to be more specific). If you have something of value, what do you do with it? Do you keep it for yourself or your family, do you sell it, or do you give it away to a stranger?</p>
<p><u>Q: Where shall I buy solo ads from? Can you recommend a responsive newsletter or a good email marketing service? Shall I type &#8220;solo ads&#8221; in my favored search engine and buy from the places listed on the first page?</u></p>
<p>A: All such approaches are wrong.</p>
<p>First you need to understand the difference between targeted and untargeted advertising. Let&#8217;s say that you want to promote the latest SF book you wrote. If you promote it in a newsletter distributed to the members of the association &#8220;We hate books&#8221;, then you will fail. That&#8217;s not targeted advertising, neither untargeted advertising, but dumb advertising. If you promote it in a health newsletter, then you shoot in the dark. The people have subscribed to that newsletter because they want to get health info. Some of them may like to read a book from time to time, others may hate books. You don&#8217;t have a clue. What you know for sure about them is that they want something you do NOT offer (health info). That&#8217;s untargeted<br />
advertising. Finally, if you promote your book to the newsletter distributed to the members of the association &#8220;We love SF&#8221; &#8230; then it&#8217;s obvious that you have serious chances to sell your book. That&#8217;s targeted advertising.</p>
<p>Now let&#8217;s come back to the original questions&#8230;</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know what you will promote tomorrow, neither what you will promote next week. If I recommend you a very good health newsletter and you&#8217;re gonna promote your SF book, will this help you in any way? Nope &#8230;</p>
<p>If you type that keyword in your search engine, what results will you get? The best newsletters in the niche you&#8217;re interested in? No way. You&#8217;ll get a list of sites arranged by that search engine using a formula that does NOT involve factors like the quality or the topic of the newsletter.</p>
<p>Then &#8230; What to do? Be specific, refine your research and always look for ezines that have the same topic like the product or service you plan to promote.</p>
<p><u>Q: I&#8217;m not interested in reading the newsletter I plan to publish my ad in. Shall I waste my time and subscribe to it?</u></p>
<p>A: That&#8217;s a must. You&#8217;re not wasting your time, you&#8217;re avoiding a potential failure. What if that newsletter doesn&#8217;t exist? Or what if only poor quality content is published there? What if the subscribers are bombarded with ads? What if &#8230; You&#8217;ll never find the answers to these questions and many others unless you subscribe and read the newsletter. Then decide whether you place the order or not.</p>
